Executive Coaching

Organizational success depends on leaders who possess superior reasoning, decision making and problem solving skills. The Grove Critical Thinking Group coaches individuals or small teams in critical thinking to significantly improve performance in these core areas.

What we do:

Phase 1

Our coaching service begins by undertaking a Needs Assessment to learn about your background, your current professional situation and understand how developing or improving your critical thinking skills will help address particular business challenges. During this phase we will also have you complete our Critical Thinking Assessment Test (CTAT). This will provide us with a baseline measurement of your current skillset and, along with the outcome of our needs assessment, will allow us to establish any areas that may need attention and tailor our approach to better meet your needs as we move through the coaching process.

Once you have completed the assessment we then move on to our Critical Thinking training program in a one-on-one setting.

This 10 hour foundational training will improve your ability to reason and think critically using a practical approach. You will learn a clear step-by-step method to improve your critical thinking skills from a business perspective. This method will improve your decision-making and problem-solving abilities, your communication and presentation skills and your ability to think strategically. It will also improve your ability to articulate your position, engage in discussions and make a more meaningful contribution in your job.

Having completed the training we will retest you with our CTAT and assess your progress and identify any gaps that may exist. At this point we can move on to the second phase of our program.

Phase 2

Here we will design specific training curriculum to address any persisting gaps and further develop a robust critical thinking mindset. Coaching at this stage can also include consulting services where we help you tackle particularly challenging business problems and make better more informed and reasoned decisions.

Our coaching method combines instruction in argument analysis with storytelling. Recent research has shown this to be the most effective way to promote critical thinking in business leaders. Argument analysis enables executives and managers to develop more critical forms of thinking, whereas storytelling helps them locate arguments that are meaningful to them and their everyday experiences.

Grove coaching helps leaders:

  • Make better sense of problems and articulate these to others

  • Create a 'landscape' of possibilities for future action

  • Argue persuasively and authoritatively for recommendations and decisions

  • Take a more considered and critical approach to your work/business activities.
